What’s a girl to do when her homebound friends request a physically distant but socially connected 80’s girl power walk/dance party? Ummmm...pull out one of your favorite tulle skirts, vintage denim, silver glitter heels and get your groove on. Also, matching cotton masks for the pups are a must. •
In all seriousness, I get that this picture reflects so much privilege, which is not lost on me. I am fortunate to live in a place where I can practice physical distancing, where I can be playful in a time of great uncertainty, and where I am surrounded by the most amazing community of family and friends. My heart is with the many others who are collectively struggling through this time. It is with my parents, who are home bound and missing the power and medicine of freedom of movement. It is with anyone who feels the weight of being alone too heavy a burden to bear.
Equally, I remain profoundly inspired by the incredible innovation and creativity that surrounds me. From chaos comes creation. Certainly, the old adage that necessity is the mother of invention rings true today. I see hope, kindness, and compassion just as I also see the shadow side. Both...And. •
Anyway, check out my story to the see the playlist inspiration for this adventure! Also, a big shout out to the amazing @cleoandclementine
for this sweet hand dyed dream of a skirt. There’s nothing that makes me feel more playful than putting on one of Monique’s creations!! Remember to play and seek the light. While we are moving through the darkness, the light still exists. •
