T R A V E L T U E S D A Y // Let's talk about what it's like to travel during Coronavirus.
I've gotten on a plane twice since February to see my family in Texas. I flew
both times; it is my airline of choice, but I also chose an airline that is keeping middle seats empty.
Here's who is doing that:
both blocking the sale of middle seats through Sept 30, and
through October, and
block them on certain flights.
Flying during this time has been up and down. I was disappointed in the amount of people who kept their masks on in-flight the first time I flew back in June, and even MORE disappointed in those who had masks passing through security and took them off immediately once they got into
. It's not that hard people!
When I flew this past week, this was all much better. Alaska continually reminded people to keep their masks on in-flight. There were fewer people on the plane (my flights were about 1/3 full each way). And more people seemed to have masks in the airport.
Travel tips if you're getting on a plane soon:
-bring a bag with plenty of wipes and wipe down all of the surfaces around your seat. They say they clean, but you can't be too careful.
-don't spend anymore time in the airport than you have to (this of course depends on your airport!). Lines were incredibly light at both PDX and DFW.
-bring a reusable water bottle and snacks. Drink service even in First Class is slim. They came through once with drinks on a four hour flight.
-wear long sleeves and long pants to lessen the chances of your body coming into contact with the virus.
