What do you do when you have an intense job, but also want to have a life (traveling, family time, reading, exercising, sitting on the couch)? I time-block the bejeezus out of my days 😄 Because it works. It really does.
Time-blocking is a method where you divide your tasks for the day into blocks of time. You give yourself hard-stop limits, and channel undivided attention into the task in front of you. Single-tasking for the win! This week I plan to double my work efforts to free myself up for a few days next week in California. So it's time-blocking with the Pomodoro technique on top! Oh yeah, it's a full-on effort because this girl likes to have fun but still gotta provide. 25 minutes to really focus and then come up for air – check my texts, insta, get up for 10 minutes. Then focus on the next time block.
I like it, because I don't get distracted as easily. No running to the kitchen while I work, no coffee breaks, etc – I know that it's coming up once the time block is done. I'm able to accomplish MORE in a few hours than I would in a day, if I'm distracted and checking insta all day or doing multiple things.
I'm not worried about having enough time in the day to complete it all because I've blocked enough time to complete it all 😉 At the same time, I make sure I have time committed for fun and relaxing things. Like writing this post and/or reading what you've been up to, lovely people.
