One month update since we officially arrived home to Maryland (although 5 weeks since custody date)!
So as stated in previous posts, Elisha is doing quite well! The first few weeks was about how to quell so much of the rivalry and jealousy that was occurring and how devastating it was to witness (although expected).
And now we are noticing how short our parenting is (although that is to be expected to. We can't expect to understand and welcome this 2 year old stranger all of a sudden, so I am learning to be less hard on myself).
A lot of things should have been expected but there has been no time to process fully despite my talks with Susanna after the kids go to bed (love saying "the kids"),
simply because the kids wake up at 6 and Elisha goes down at 6 and Christian a little later. The days FLY by and we are so much more active in and around the house, cooking, cleaning, playing, running errands, etc.
We finished our first of four post placement interviews with our social worker and trying to get his social security card for his health insurance which is AMAZINGLY difficult. We need to get him circumcised, get his cavities removed, and the list goes on.
Our hearts are full though. And this picture was the best we can do, on a very hot day and cranky Christian, and a soccer player Elisha with no tripod and balancing it on the ground.
